 Job Summary

DPI Specialty Foods, the Northwest's leading specialty foods distributor, currently seeks a District Manager to join our Specialty Grocery Team. The District Manager's principle duties and responsibilities are directly linked to the overall operation of the Field Sales Associates and Merchandising team. The District Manager administers management of all sales programs through their personnel for all grocery chains in their region, which will be the Portland and SW Vancouver area.

 Requirements
  • Must have 5-7 years prior Grocery Sales and/or Merchandising Experience.
  • Independent, critical thinker with the ability to navigate through problems in order to make important decisions based on facts.
  • Strong leadership skills and previous management/supervision experience, strong attention to detail, organization skills, and ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must have good judgment, be self motivated, dedicated to customer service, able to coordinate and manage several projects simultaneously and work independently of others.
  • Must have strong work ethic, flexibility and versatility, as well as excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, ability to drive/travel on a routine basis throughout the entire region and as needed throughout DPI's entire territory, and proof of auto insurance at required levels of coverage.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs on a regular basis and the ability to repetitively bend and stoop is required.
     
Essential duties and responbilities include the following
  • Measure and monitor results for District: audits, sales, spoils, overtime hours, training opportunities for Sales Reps and Merchandisers, control expenses, reduce DSD requests, and surveys.
  • Review and analyze daily, weekly, and monthly reports: sales, spoils, out of stocks, loads, and commissions.
  • Conduct store audits to ensure stores are to company standards and programs are executed and adhered to.
  • Manage and measure Sales Reps and Merchandiser's performance and administer discipline.
  • Review passover, 4th of July, Labor Day, Memorial Day, 4th Quarter, and other seasonal programs for the district.
  • Manage and drive all programs through personnel for all chains.
  • Create sales and merchandising routes during acquisitions and new business. Continuously analyze existing routes for optimum productivity. Manage exit strategy for loss of business.
  • Plan and prepare sales meetings as well as annual Holiday Sales meeting. When necessary, attend and participate in meetings scheduled by the customer.
  • Interact with Support Departments such as Transportation, Credit Department, and IT Support.
  • Participate in SBT (scan base trading) audits.
  • Recruit, hire, train, and mentor Sales Reps and Merchandisers. Coach Sales Reps and Merchandisers in job mechanics and product knowledge and programs.
  • Provide customer service as sometimes the responsibilities of customer service falls within the perimeters of a District Manager's scope.
  • Cover, if necessary, Sales Team vacations and time off.
